Vacation: On the Road Again…

Smoky the BearDay 2 of vacation started off with free breakfast at the hotel.  Then we took off driving again to make it to the cabin.  Today was a much shorter driving day than yesterday.  I slept a lot of the way today, and Jesse did an awesome job keeping us alive on the crazy roads.

River along the roadThe last part of the drive on the way here was gorgeous!  We were on windy roads through the mountains.  Cliffs on one side of the road, and river on the other.  We put the windows down for a little bit to feel the breeze and listen to the river running over the rocks. We don’t see scenery like that at home.

Windy road We made it to the cabin shortly after 3:00.  We had seen pictures online of what the cabin would look like, but it looks even so much nicer in person.  We have plenty of room for all 8 of us to spread out.  There will definitely been plenty of relaxing going on here!

After we had explored around the cabin, we made a grocery run to buy all of the food we will be cooking for the week.  Mom scheduled out for everyone to take turn preparing and cleaning up after meals.  Andrew and Nicole (my brother and his girlfriend) took their turn tonight and made us pizza and salad.  And now we are sitting on the comfy leather couch in front of the fire.  I think this is a great family vacation choice.

Vacation: Hittin’ the Road

Jesse drivingToday is day one of vacation.  We left our house this morning at 6:37 am (only 7 minutes behind schedule – YAY).  We are headed to Tennessee for a family vacation with my family.  The rest of the family is driving separately because we couldn’t all fit in one car.  We had to tote some of the stuff for the rest of the family which left us with a very full car load.  It took quite a bit of rearranging before we could get it all to fit.  Good thing we packed up most of it the night before, or else that would have been a problem.  When I planned it out in my head things fit a lot easier.  I thought we would have tons of space in the new car, but once the things were in there the space got a lot smaller.Me on swing

Since we left so early, we beat the rest of the family there by a little more than an hour.  So we found a nearby park and took a walk.  It was nice be outside after a full day of sitting in the car, but it was sooo hot!  There were no kids on the playground because everything was too hot to touch.  But we did swing for a while to catch a little breeze.

We made it to our destination for the night,  Atlanta.  We went to our favorite restaurant, Pappasito’s, that we always eat at when we stop here.  They have really good Mexican food.  We got one big sampler platter to share.  It was so good.
