Face Time

New phonesJesse has had his heart set on getting us new iPhones since he heard they were coming out. But since I am such a non-spender, I couldn’t see why we needed new phones. Then my phone died… completely. It wouldn’t hold a charge for more than about twenty minutes. It wouldn’t even last me my car ride home from work. No problem, we transferred the card out of this phone to one of Jesse’s old phones. Only, that phone had such bad reception. I have been using it for about two months, but it wasn’t working all that well, either.

Alright, maybe I did need a new phone. Jesse really needed one too. He uses his for work often and his old iPhone was working, but it was so slow. We finally agreed we would get them for our anniversary. Face TimeThen Jesse set himself a sales goal for the month and decided that if he reached that before our anniversary, we could get them early. Well, that was more than enough motivation for him. It is our anniversary month after all, isn’t that close enough? We both got our new iPhones yesterday!!

He met me at the mall yesterday when I got off of work and he was so excited. He can barely contain himself when we go to the Apple store… and he actually gets to BUY something! Needless to say, we were pretty geeky last night. We were both setting up our phones, downloading apps, and trying out the cases we bought. Such romantic anniversary gifts. He is turning me into such a geek. We are so very happy with our purchases!

My Mad Skills

ApronI am an official chef!  Since I’ve been getting so much practice in the kitchen right now… I decided I needed to buy myself an apron. I thought it was cute and it was only $7 at Ross.

The only bad part about preparing everything fresh is how many more dishes we have to go through.  I thought we ran out fast before,  but I feel like I have to use so much just to cook a meal.  I might be a messy cook, but I’m not as messy as another cook in this house.

Cooking

Speaking of my mad skills, I also practiced how to simmer a plastic cutting board. Jesse had been cutting chicken on the cutting board and I thought I had turned on the back burner. I walked back into the kitchen a minute later and wondered how my pot of water was steaming so quickly. Needless to say, it overpowered any pleasant cooking aromas from our dinner. Yikes!Cutting board

Flash Me Friday: Something Nearby

This week’s Flash Me Friday is an easy one, just flash something nearby. Check out The Groettum Family blog and join the fun!

Look at what’s going on down the street… construction!!!  Let me explain why that is so exciting.  A few months after we had moved into our brand new townhome, the builder went bankrupt.  They finished the two buildings after ours, that were already started, and then packed up and left.  So, we have driven by empty lots with plumbing and electrical cables sticking up for almost two full years now.

A couple weeks ago we heard the news that Lennar had purchased the rest of the land and would begin construction soon.  And this week they have begun to clear the land where the jungle of weeds and overgrown grass was taking over.  Yay!!!Construction
